We sail north from Nuuk passing the waterfall at Sermitsiaq either in the morning or the evening depending on the wind that day. At Qoornoq there is an option to go ashore. When we enter the icefjord we go as far as the bird cliff. The cliff is filled with nesting Iceland gulls and kittiwakes. We quite often also see black guillemots and murres. We often chose to eat lunch at the bird cliff. Depending on the amount of ice, weather, and the mood of the passengers we either go farther into the icefjord or chose to spend more time in Qoornoq on the way back. On rare occasions getting as far as the bird cliff is impossible due to ice. There is ample opportunity to bring home a chunk of ice for the freezer or the drink.
